PH值：溶液中氢离子活度的标度，用来衡量溶液的酸碱度。
测量电极：对溶液中氢离子有响应，电极电位随氢离子活度呈线性变化。
参比电极：具有已知恒定的电位，对溶液中氢离子无响应。
两复合电极：测量电极和参比电极复合成一体。
三复合电极：测量电极、参比电极和温补电极复合成一体。
活化：如果电极储存在干燥的环境下，则使用前必须浸泡24小时，使其活化，否则标定和测量都将产生较大误差。
再生：当发现电极响应变慢，近乎迟钝时，应用10%的HNO3和NH4F（50g/l）的混合物浸泡，对其进行再生。
玻璃电极：由具有氢功能的玻璃熔融吹制而成，电极电位随氢离子活度呈线性变化，构成电位回路。
氧化还原电极：由惰性金属电极及溶液中氧化还原离子对组成，其特点是氧化还原对不能迁越相界面。
气体电极：由惰性金属电极及氧化还原对中一个组元为气体组成的 ，如氢电极Pt｜H2（g）｜H+（aq）。
